I was traveling in Europe and had a short, but interesting, series of event happen to me. It begged to be made into a story. I wrote the story and folks talked about it more than anything else I had ever done. I was hooked.
What inspired you to write flash fiction?
In the 90s I rediscovered Brautigan and began to realize that some stories are short – really short.
Describe your writing process.
I have legal pads strewn about my home and they gather bits and fragments of ideas, dialogue, etc. When it reaches a mass large enough to work with I begin assembling it into a thing. Rewriting takes ten times longer than the initial writing.
What was the inspiration behind what was published on FewerThan500.com?
This story is from a collection called “Stories For Girls.” It’s an effort to demonstrate male thought processes.
